ishga has been developed on the Isle of Lewis by a team of people with a passion for creating the highest quality cosmetics harnessing the natural anti-oxidant, healing and anti-ageing properties provided by the purest Scottish seaweed. The “ishga” brand has been created by Hebridean Spa ltd.
Malcolm & Joanna Macrae
Malcolm Macrae is from the village of Leurbost on the Isle of Lewis and is a Director of Hebridean Spa ltd. Malcolm studied at University in Glasgow where he obtained a degree in Marine Biology and a Masters in Chemistry. Following this Malcolm worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for 11 years before joining Scottish Water, Scientific Services.
Joanna Macrae has been a beauty therapist since 1997 working for Clarins and through her passion for skincare began researching the possibility of creating an organic seaweed based brand. The obvious combination of scientist and beauty therapist inspired the ishga range.
Martin Macleod is from the village of Leurbost on the Isle of Lewis and is a Director of Hebridean Spa ltd. Before the set up of the company Martin was previously employed in the seaweed processing industry and he has over 14 years of experience in this field. It would be hard to find somebody more passionate about Seaweed and its many uses.
Leon Trayling is from the West Coast of Scotland and is a Director of Hebridean Spa ltd. Leon has 15 years experience working across the Spa, Leisure and Hotel Industry, after meeting Martin, Malcolm and Joanna in 2011 he became very excited about the opportunity to introduce a high quality Scottish product to the market.
